Innuos NazaréNET

The Innuos NazaréNET is Innuos' flagship audiophile Ethernet switch, engineered to address one of the most noise-prone points in any high-end digital system: the network itself. Where a standard network switch prioritises data throughput, the NazaréNET is built entirely around sonic performance — delivering a cleaner, more precisely timed signal to your music streamer or server, and allowing the music to be heard without the colouration introduced by electrical interference.

It represents a significant step beyond the acclaimed PhoenixNET, introducing an entirely new internal architecture, a substantially enhanced power supply, and the robust, vibration-controlled chassis shared across the NAZARÉ platform.

NAZARÉ-Grade Power Supply

The power supply in the NazaréNET is engineered to the same standard as the NAZARÉ music server — the most advanced power design Innuos has produced to date. At its core are high-precision, custom-wound toroidal transformers paired with bespoke Lundahl inductors, providing an exceptionally clean and stable foundation.

Rectification and filtering is handled by Innuos' proprietary GaN-ARC8 modules, developed in collaboration with renowned power supply designer Dr. Sean Jacobs. These use gallium nitride-based active rectification and an energy storage reservoir of 376,000 µF — ensuring both speed and stability under dynamic demand. Four advanced DC4 modules, also co-developed with Dr. Sean Jacobs, handle regulation, incorporating high-precision foil resistors to deliver an ultra-stable, ultra-low-noise output under all operating conditions.

WaveNET Board

The WaveNET board is not adapted from conventional networking hardware — it is purpose-built for audio. Its design addresses the root causes of electrical interference from the ground up, from component selection to circuit layout, ensuring that network signal integrity is maintained at a level beyond typical consumer or enterprise equipment.

Central to the WaveNET design are four independently regulated and electrically isolated power rails — one for each critical section of the system:

  • The precision OCXO clock operates in a completely isolated electrical environment, ensuring the timing heartbeat of the switch is free from interference.
  • The analogue PHY transceivers, responsible for signal transmission and reception, receive their own dedicated, clean supply — essential given their sensitivity to switching noise.
  • The digital Ethernet controller is separated across two independently regulated rails, isolating its processing activity from both the clock and analogue transceivers.

The result is an exceptionally low noise floor and a level of timing accuracy that translates directly into greater coherence, detail, and musical realism.

NAZARÉ Chassis, OCXO Clock and SmartStack Vibration Control

Timing precision in digital audio depends on the stability of the clock, and the NazaréNET employs a high-precision OCXO clock powered by its own dedicated supply and fully isolated from the rest of the system — delivering an exceptionally stable, low-jitter reference signal.

Every critical component within the NazaréNET is protected by SmartStack technology — a high-performance vibration dampening system developed in collaboration with TONEO. The chassis itself is a 10mm CNC-machined aluminium enclosure with an asymmetric design that reduces standing waves and internal resonance. System-tuned IsoAcoustic isolation feet complete the mechanical isolation picture.

SFP Fibre Port

Alongside four RJ45 connections, the NazaréNET features an integrated SFP fibre port — a significant addition that opens new possibilities for system configuration. By introducing fibre into the signal path, electrical continuity between components can be eliminated, removing a key pathway for noise and interference.

The implementation uses a reference-grade Finisar SFP module with single-mode fibre — chosen specifically for its ability to transmit light along a single, precisely controlled path, avoiding the signal dispersion inherent in multimode designs. The result is greater stability and precision even across the short cable runs typical in high-end audio installations.

Ultra-Low Noise Operation and Sense Integration

Once configured, the NazaréNET becomes effectively silent — electrically and operationally. Its custom firmware initialises the system and then shuts down the onboard microprocessor entirely, eliminating the noise generated by unnecessary processing activity during playback.

The NazaréNET also integrates with the Innuos Sense app, allowing port speed management and — via a future firmware update — the ability to disable individual ports entirely. Network infrastructure reduced to its most essential form.

Buying from Martins Hi-Fi

Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind.

Innuos is a brand we know intimately — Martins Hi-Fi held the first UK Innuos Nazaré event, and our team has extensive hands-on experience with the full Innuos range. The NazaréNET is a natural companion to the Innuos Nazaré streamer/server, and we are well placed to advise on how it integrates into your existing system — whether you are building around the NAZARÉ platform or looking to refine a high-performance digital front end you already own. Speak to Dave or Chris in our Norwich showroom to hear what a properly configured network can do for your system.
