Fyne Audio SuperTrax
The Fyne Audio SuperTrax is a 360-degree super tweeter that sets a new standard for ultra-high-frequency extension — a single-unit addition to any loudspeaker system that transforms the perceived naturalness of the entire frequency range, not merely the top end. Placed on top of or adjacent to an existing loudspeaker pair and connected in parallel via a simple high-pass filter, the SuperTrax requires no modification to the existing system and no specialised installation. The patented 360-degree radiation geometry disperses ultra-high-frequency energy evenly in all directions — a fundamentally different approach to conventional forward-firing super tweeters, and one that aligns precisely with the way acoustic instruments radiate sound in a real performance space. The result is an addition to any system that is immediately, unambiguously, and convincingly audible — not as a change to the top end, but as a transformation of the entire perceived frequency range.
What Does a Super Tweeter Do?
A super tweeter extends the high-frequency bandwidth of a loudspeaker system beyond what the main tweeter can reproduce — several octaves above the nominal 20kHz limit of human hearing. This extension contributes to tonal accuracy, a more pronounced transient response, and an enhanced sense of air and space around instruments and voices. These qualities are perceptible even at frequencies the ear cannot consciously resolve, which is why the most commonly reported effect of adding a super tweeter is not a change to the highest frequencies, but an improvement in the naturalness and definition of the lowest — bass that is better controlled, midrange that is more present, and a soundstage that is more convincingly three-dimensional.
The underlying mechanism is phase accuracy. Just as a subwoofer improves the phase coherence of the bass frequencies well beyond its nominal extension point, a super tweeter at the high-frequency end preserves the harmonic structure of music above the main tweeter's operating range. It is this extended phase accuracy — maintained across the full audio bandwidth — that accounts for the perceived improvement across the entire frequency range, and that makes the SuperTrax one of the most cost-effective upgrades available to an existing high-performance system.
360-Degree Radiation
The SuperTrax uses a patented 360-degree radiation design that disperses ultra-high-frequency energy equally in all directions — matching the natural radiation behaviour of acoustic instruments and voices, and integrating with the main loudspeaker's soundstage in a more seamless and convincing way than any forward-firing super tweeter can achieve. Where a conventional super tweeter adds a directional source of high-frequency energy to a system, the SuperTrax adds an omnidirectional one — restoring the room-filling harmonic envelope of live acoustic performance with a coherence that is audible not merely at the frequency extremes, but across the full bandwidth of the system.
Compatibility
The SuperTrax is designed to work with any passive loudspeaker system. Connection is via a simple parallel arrangement with a high-pass filter that sets the operating point — no modification to the existing system is required. It pairs naturally with any speaker in the Fyne Audio range, including the F704SP, the F1-10s, and the F1-8s, as well as loudspeakers from other manufacturers. It is equally at home augmenting a Fyne Audio Vintage Five or a Fyne Audio F5S — and because connection is purely passive and in parallel, it can be moved between systems without complication.
Who Is It For?
The SuperTrax suits a listener whose existing system is already performing well and who wants to explore what ultra-high-frequency extension adds to it — in particular those who listen to a great deal of acoustic music, classical recordings, or high-resolution digital files where the upper harmonic content of instruments is well preserved. It is a natural consideration for any Fyne Audio speaker owner whose main tweeter rolls off below 30kHz, and an equally compelling upgrade for owners of high-performance speakers from other manufacturers.
Those building a new system around Fyne Audio speakers should consider the SuperTrax at the planning stage rather than as an afterthought — integration is simpler and the results more coherent when the super tweeter is part of the original system design rather than a later addition.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The SuperTrax is available to demonstrate at our Norwich showroom — ideally in the context of a system you already know, so the difference the SuperTrax makes is immediately and unambiguously apparent. When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim — experienced specialists who can advise on placement, connection, and which systems benefit most from the addition.
Contact us at info@martinshifi.co.uk, call 01603 627010, or WhatsApp on 07554 687137. You can read more about how we work on our Why Martins Hi-Fi page. We are at 85–91 Ber Street, Norwich, NR1 3EY.
