KEF LS60 - Martins Hi-Fi

KEF LS60 Wireless | The All-in-One Speaker That Changes the Rules

A Complete System in Two Speakers

The KEF LS60 Wireless brings together a high-performance multi-driver array, fully balanced Class A/B amplification, an audiophile-grade DAC, and KEF's own streaming platform — all inside a single, elegantly minimal cabinet. No separate amplifier. No streaming box. No rack of equipment. Just two speakers, a power cable each, and music.

For anyone who has wanted a serious hi-fi system without the complexity of a traditional separates setup, the LS60 Wireless makes a compelling case. We have heard it at the Norwich showroom, and it genuinely holds its own against many conventional systems at a similar price point.

Uni-Q and MAT — KEF's Core Technologies Explained

At the heart of the LS60 is KEF's Uni-Q driver array — a vented aluminium dome tweeter mounted concentrically within an aluminium mid-range cone. Placing the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the mid-range driver means both sources of sound radiate from a single point. The result is a wider, more coherent dispersion pattern than a conventional multi-driver arrangement, which translates directly into a more consistent and spacious soundstage across a wider listening area.

Behind the Uni-Q sits Metamaterial Absorption Technology — MAT. This is a precisely engineered labyrinthine structure, designed to absorb the rearward radiation from the tweeter that would otherwise reflect back through the cone and colour the sound. KEF state that MAT eliminates the vast majority of this unwanted energy. In practice, it contributes to a cleaner, lower-distortion high-frequency presentation with noticeably improved resolution of low-level detail.

Below the Uni-Q, a pair of aluminium woofers in a force-cancelling, isobaric arrangement handle the bass. Mounting the drivers face-to-face in this way significantly reduces cabinet vibration — the equal and opposite forces cancel each other out — allowing the LS60 to produce controlled, well-defined bass from a cabinet that is far slimmer than its output would suggest.

Amplification and Signal Path

Each speaker houses four discrete Class A/B amplifier channels. The tweeter and mid-range are driven by dedicated channels; the woofers share a channel optimised for low-frequency control. The signal is managed by an onboard DSP that KEF use to apply precise time alignment and crossover filtering — tasks that in a passive speaker are handled by a physical crossover network, but which a DSP can execute with considerably greater accuracy and flexibility.

The LS60 supports high-resolution audio and streams via Wi-Fi or Ethernet using KEF Connect, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Bluetooth. Roon Ready certification is included. A USB-B input allows direct connection to a computer, and optical and coaxial digital inputs are provided alongside a subwoofer output for those who want to extend the bass further.

Who Is the LS60 Wireless For?

The LS60 Wireless suits two kinds of listener particularly well. The first is the enthusiast who wants a serious, high-performance system but values a clean, minimal living space and has no interest in building a rack of separates. The second is someone returning to hi-fi after a long absence — perhaps a CD-era listener who wants modern streaming capability with sound quality that actually justifies the investment.

It is worth being honest: the LS60 is not a budget proposition. It is a premium product at a premium price. But the value case is a straightforward one — you are buying amplifier, DAC, streaming platform and loudspeakers in a single, optimised package, all engineered to work together from the ground up. That integration is something separates cannot replicate, no matter how carefully chosen.

If your listening room demands more, KEF's larger Blade Meta represents the pinnacle of their Uni-Q engineering — a very different proposition in scale and price, but sharing the same acoustic philosophy.

Hear It at Martins Hi-Fi

Martin's Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The KEF LS60 Wireless is available to hear at our Norwich showroom — we would encourage anyone considering it to book a demonstration, because this is a speaker that reveals itself properly only over an extended listening session. Dave and Chris are the people to speak to.
