A modern television is a source, and getting its sound out of it and into a serious system is otherwise an exercise in optical cables and lip-sync compromise. With the ARC output connected to the television's ARC-capable HDMI socket, the DAC 200 takes the television's audio directly and the television remote continues to control volume.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eWhat It Adds\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eTwo stereo HDMI inputs give you room for a disc player and a set-top box alongside the television connection, all arriving at the DAC 200's converter rather than being handled by the television's internal electronics — which is the entire point of routing them this way.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eIt is worth being clear about what this is not: these are stereo audio inputs on a two-channel DAC, not a route to multichannel or video switching.
