Quad were established in 1936 so are now in the 79th year. They have just released their new range of loudspeakers designed by Peter Corneau.
The Quad S2 is part of the new S series, a replacement for the Quad classic range of speakers and embodies the best of classic Quad philosophy, it is larger than the Quad S1 and below theQuad S4 and Quad S5 floorstanders and Quad SC centre speaker.
The Quad S Series speakers combine advanced Kevlar-coned bass/midrange drivers with a specifically designed ribbon tweeter, supplying seamless audio expression to capture all the details and passion of the original performance. The Quad S4 floorstander supports three-way configurations, coupling a 100mm midrange driver with two 125mm bass drivers.The new ribbon unit developed for the S Series is thoroughly modern and uses the latest techniques and materials. The ribbon has a sandwich construction making it robust enough to handle high-powered amplifiers and is fully immersed in a powerful magnetic field so it accomplishes its dual role of being both the voice coil and the sound radiator.
